Students are expected to show respect to all peers and instructors and treat everyone with courtesy. It is the responsibility of every student to keep the Academy safe and clean. Please do not be late to class or leave early without obtaining permission from your instructor first.
-
In BJJ class, students should line up in descending rank with their attendance cards in their hands. Please speak with an Academy Staff Member if you can't find your attendance card. During class, students must remain quiet and attentive, especially when the Professor is speaking or demonstrating a technique.
-
Students must always wear a clean, odor-free uniform and it must be in good condition for every class. Professors have the right to deny training if a student's Gi is unsanitary. Students are required to wear a complete Marcio Cruz Academy Gi or Storm BJJ Patch set with both a jacket and pants. For No-Gi classes, an appropriate uniform with a rash guard and shorts is required, preferably Storm BJJ gear.
-
Street attire, hats, outdoor shoes, and jewelry are not allowed in the mat area. The Academy is not responsible for any lost, damaged, or stolen items. Due to the close-contact nature of Jiu-Jitsu, all students must maintain good personal hygiene and keep their nails trimmed and without sharp edges. Any injury, health, or skin condition must be reported to the instructor before class.
-
Obscene language, ill temper, or discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated at the Academy. Martial arts knowledge should not be abused and should only be used to protect yourself and others.
-
Footwear or flip-flops must be worn when off the mats. Anyone caught training with infections will be banned from the academy.
Master Cruz’s Practical Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Training:
1. - Train to the best of your ability and always apply maximum effort.
2. - Attend classes regularly to get the most out of your training.
3. - Always be on your best behavior and respect the Academy’s etiquette.
4. - Listen carefully to your instructor.
5. - Improve and train the skills you already have with precision, concentration, and motivation.
6. - Learn any new skills with precision, concentration, and motivation.
While some of these rules may seem strict and formal, they exist for a reason. The Academy Etiquette Guidelines are crucial to instill the respect and discipline necessary when practicing martial arts. Without committing to these guidelines, practicing this art form could be dangerous.
Thank you,
